On projects where timber cladding would not be acceptable we can use brick, timber, render or any other form of external cladding, all of which work well with our system.

Our sustainable panel system is perfectly suited to one and two storey houses and the energy efficiency of our houses is a useful marketing tool.

• We use a unique form of construction using sustainable materials such as Steico wood fibre insulation and Steico rigid underlay which is used as a wind barrier. We use a breather paper membrane made by Pro Clima and air tightness is achieved by using Pro Clima tape to seal around the windows, doors and any joins. The walls have a standard U-value of 0.19 which gives you an indication of the energy efficiency of the system.
• The specification provides high levels of sound insulation. Instead of conventional plasterboard we specify, as standard, Fermacell boarding. Not only does this material have excellent fire resistant qualities but is also extremely hard wearing, durable and damage resistant.
• It is worth noting that wood fibre insulation has twice the heat retention capacity of mineral wool and that our Pro Clima membrane prevents the ingress of humid air yet still allows the building to breathe.
• We liken our panel system to Gore-Tex which breaths and wicks out any moisture. The same is true for our panel system in that it allows the building to breathe but at the same time prevents humidity from entering. It is difficult to keep a humid building warm.
• Our timber comes with a “chain of custody certificate” from the FSC. We use natural materials such as Pro Clima and Steico wood fibre insulation. So as to demonstrate the energy efficiency of the panel system we have recently designed a two bedroom house and had a SAP assessment carried out. The results show that, in so far as we are able to influence the build, our building comfortably achieves a CSH code 4. i.e. a 44% reduction on energy usage over the 2006 Building regulations. In fact our figure came out at 50%.
